C’etait un Rendez-vous fact: the recording was done using a Mercedes 450SEL 6.9, after which the sound track of Lelouchs own Ferrari 275 GTB was dubbed in. So they used a beast of a camera car, only to dub in an even better car.

I REALLY want to like this movie, but the shifting/engine noise really does not match the video. It’s frustrating to me.

I really like it, though I get what you’re at, the problem is that they probably couldn’t fit the camera to the Ferrari, leading to a bit of a compromise in the matching between sound and video.
Maybe you should do a Japanese version of it!

haha, what was possible 40 years ago is unfortunately a lot more difficult to do today :)
I’d end up in jail if I were to get caught. I think the main reason why he didn’t use a Ferrari was to avoid cops. A red bright Ferrari is a lot easier to find than a dark grey mercedes :)

What on earth is that? I’m guessing it’s something you couldn’t actually find in Paris.

Claude Lelouche?? Nah. At worst he was questioned but these were thee time where you could get away with this kind of stuff by paying a beer to the cops in charge :)
I’m French but never got to know this period really. My father and his A110 do have lots of driving related stories though :)

New one to me.
But then the French and I live in Buick-free zones.

It was Buick’s version of the infamous Pontiac Aztec.

Had to look it up, you’re right. He was just arrested.
